I had the pleasure of hearing Jeff on a monthly basis for many Sundays at Virginia City Dancehall and Saloon in Tomball, TX where I was the DJ from 1984-1992. I went on to manage a nightclub in The Woodlands, TX where we had Jeff, and the guys play one time. My favorite was "Sure is Cold in Here Tonight". "Talkin' to Your Picture" should have been a #1 chart topper for sure. When I spoke with Jeff over the years, he was always so pleasant, and respectful. Country radio was not friendly towards him at all but the memories he created for me are timeless. In my book, he was a good man and he left us way too soon! RIP Jeff, you will always be remembered as one of the best!

I found Gene Watson about fifty years ago and he is as great today as he was back in those days. Gene is the epitome of what it means to be a Texan. No music is better than Texas flavored country music. It has struck a chord with me for my entire life. The people, who are driving today's "country" music....listen up Nashville...... have no clue what they are doing. As a matter of fact there is hardly any good music being produced mainstream today that is worth listening to, in any genre. Thanks God we have videos and audio recordings to listen to when we want some real music. I hear that everything is geared to the younger crowd. I guess it IS all about the money. When I was younger and coming up I wanted to have a career singing country music. Today? No way! If it was offered to me on a silver platter I would turn it down. Country music crested years ago and it isn't coming back. Well there is one bright hope still out there and that is Texas Red Dirt music.....and bluegrass is still around in it's normal state but, in general, the music industry is washed up. And the saddest state of affairs is that the really great acts of the 1990's are cubbyholed in small venues, no longer wanted by the industry. I guess if you don't have multi-colored hair, tats and don't know what you are you have a place in the entertainment biz today. it's all pitiful!

He played a small town rodeo in Ft. Stockton, Texas back in the eighties. After the rodeo they packed down the ground in one corner of the arena for a little dance floor and that’s where he played, and we all danced within a couple of feet of him. Gosh those were good days! He never succumbed to the crap they call country music these days.

Who knew his brother Terry had such a good solo voice as well as sang harmony so well! A great performance by two of country music’s best male artists!!
